Threading
Threading is an ancient form of hair removal that uses non-surgical techniques. A cotton thread is pulled along the unwanted hair in a twisting motion, to trap the hair in a mini lasso, and lifts the hair right out of the follicle. It’s non-invasive and can be good for many individuals with skin that has a tendency for rosacea, acne and sensitivity. Results typically last four to six weeks.
Threading can be good for eyebrow shaping as it allows the technician to be very precise to obtain the perfect eyebrow shape. The shape of your eyebrows can totally change the look and shape of your face by framing your features. Either one hair or a row of hair can be removed at a time – this is all in your beauty therapists’ control. Threading can be a possible treatment for anyone, including people that may be currently using Roaccutane.
Threading is popular for people who have fine hair that waxing and tweezing can miss. As there are no chemicals used the face should not feel irritated after treatment.
Is threading painful?
Everyone’s pain threshold will always be different. Some patients find threading less painful than waxing, while others find waxing less painful than threading. The best way to describe the feeling is that it is equivalent to tweezing multiple hairs at once. Unlike waxing, where a thin layer of skin is actually removed during the process, threading only removes the unwanted hair.
How long between treatments?
There is no specific answer to this question as the length between treatments entirely depends on the individual’s hair follicles. The growth of the hair follicle for each individual can be anywhere between 2 and 6 weeks. Therefore some individuals may need a treatment more regularly than others.
Is there any downtime?
Generally speaking, no there is very little to no downtime from threading. Your skin can be a little red in colour post treatment – which should dissipate over a few hours. However, as with waxing, plucking or threading, it is possible that you could develop folliculitis. Folliculitis is a common skin condition in which hair follicles become inflamed, usually caused by bacteria. If you are prone to getting folliculitis, epiblading may be a gentler yet effective alternative for vellus hair removal.
What is the aftercare?
Post threading, it is important to follow our aftercare advice, which will be provided and discussed following your treatment. No strenuous activity is to be undertaken for 24 hours post procedure. This includes bikram yoga and the use of steam rooms and saunas. For the next 48 hours avoid: chlorinated swimming pools, spray tans, wearing makeup that isn’t mineral, heavy fragrances on the treated area, any active ingredients, for example vitamin a, c or lactic acid, and exfoliating the skin.
Tinting
Eyelash tinting is a frequently used beauty treatment technique to achieve darker eyelashes or eyebrows while reducing the need for daily mascara application, false eyelashes or tattooing. People with naturally light tones to their lashes and those who would simply like to save time in their makeup regimens can benefit from this quick, painless cosmetic treatment.
During eyelash tinting, a semi-permanent dye will be applied to the lashes to give them a darker appearance. There are a number of shades that can be applied with eyelash tinting. The procedure itself typically takes only about 20 minutes to complete, and the results can last up to six weeks. As the effects of eyelash tinting are not permanent, you have the freedom to experiment with different shades for different occasions.
Eyelash tinting can be a great way to diminish the annoyance often associated with maintaining the look of your eyes and give you beautiful, darker eyelashes.
We recommend removing contact lenses before your lash or brow tint, and reinserting them the day after. If you are sensitive you can use saline or lubricating drops to rinse your eyes after treatment.
Eyebrow tinting is becoming very popular for women who would like to shape and colour their eyebrows for a balanced, beautiful complement to other facial features. Lash & Brow Tint Aftercare
Both eyelash and eyebrow tints typically last anywhere between three to four weeks, although it can vary depending on the individual. We advise against using active skincare as this can decrease the life of your tint, due to its exfoliating nature on your skin. A way of helping to extend your eyebrow tint is to keep them moisturised, and for your lashes we recommend avoiding using any oil based products on your eyes, or using your fingers to remove mascara. The time between treatments is really an individual preference and will depend on how long the tint lasts dependant aftercare – if required you can have your lashes and brows tinted weekly.
