The Layt Clinic is excited to be the first clinic in Australia to introduce the Avéli® treatment platform for cellulite reduction. Avéli®, an innovative technique developed by Revelle Aesthetics, offers a minimally-invasive way to diminish the telltale signs of cellulite on the skin. In fact, Dr Craig Layt was an integral part of the development team responsible for Avéli®, performing the initial pilot and subsequent product development and safety trials. This culminated in having a 510k clearance (K232153) in the US several years ago and successful use in clinical practice for the treatment of cellulite appearing in the thigh and buttock areas of adult women. Avéli® has now been listed in the Australian Register of Therapeutic Good (ARTG Number – 424331) for use in Australia. It is designed to be effective for most individuals after a single treatment.

What Is Cellulite?

Cellulite is a skin condition that is very common amongst women. Typically appearing in the buttock and thigh regions, signs of cellulite are often characterized by depressions or “dimples” in the skin. The condition is primarily caused by fibrous bands (septa) that pull the surface skin down in specific areas. Over time, the septa can become strained and tight, ultimately pulling the skin through layers of fat toward the underlying muscles and creating visible depressions in the skin.

What Can Avéli® Do?*

Avéli® is one of very few cellulite treatments available. It is a device designed to precisely target the septa bands causing cellulite dimples to appear. The Avéli® technique utilises a special technology to not only identify the septa bands that may be causing the issue, but also to sever and release them. This process can serve to minimize the signs of cellulite for extended periods.

How Does the Avéli® Treatment Process Work?*

During the Avéli® procedure, the skin is numbed with a local anesthetic to make the treatment as comfortable as possible. General anesthesia is not necessary for this treatment. The Avéli® device will be gently inserted into the skin of the targeted areas to locate and release the specific septa bands creating the appearance of cellulite. One of the biggest potential advantages of the Avéli® technique is that it is designed to help the treating practitioner verify that the targeted septa bands have been released while the procedure is being performed. This can allow for exceptional accuracy and precision, which can ultimately produce more effective treatment results.

While each individual’s experience is unique, the Avéli® procedure typically only takes about one hour to complete. Please note that Avéli® is designed only to treat cellulite—it will not be effective for skin laxity or localised fat pockets in the treatment area.

What Does Recovery from Avéli® Treatment Involve?

Most individuals require little to no downtime after treatment with Avéli®—many patients are able to resume normal daily routines within one to two days. We typically recommend that patients refrain from strenuous activities and exercise for a temporary period of time after treatment; our team will provide detailed guidelines designed to help optimise the recovery experience. The effects of Avéli® treatment can be noticed immediately and become clearer approximately one month after the treatment. 94% of individuals who participated in the clinical studies of Avéli® cellulite reduction treatment had aesthetic improvement one year after the procedure was performed.

What Are the Side Effects from Avéli® Treatment?

Patients may experience mild discomfort, bruising, tenderness, and firmness in the treatment areas; however, these side effects should be temporary and should dissipate in the weeks following treatment. The treating practitioner will talk with you about all aspects of the treatment and potential side effects so you will know what to expect.

Do you have additional questions about Avéli®? Please don’t hesitate to contact The Layt Clinic for more information, or to schedule a consultation in our Southport, Gold Coast or Ballina, NSW Clinics.

*Individual results from this treatment will vary and guidelines recommend seeking a second opinion from an appropriately qualified health practitioner before proceeding with surgery or invasive procedures. Results, risks, and recovery are dependent on factors pre and post procedure, including, but not limited to, genetics, diet, exercise and skin quality. Avéli® cellulite procedures will not be able to address other concerns, such as pockets of excess fat or skin laxity, in the areas targeted for treatment.
