Privacy Policy
The Layt Clinic is committed to ensuring the privacy and confidentiality of all personal information. The Layt Clinic adheres to the terms and conditions of Privacy and Confidentiality in accordance with the Australian Privacy Principles and The Privacy Act 1988 (The Act).
What to Bring to The Appointment
- GP referral letter
- Medicare card, DVA card, Private Health Fund card, personal bank details for refund of Medicare rebate
- Copies of x-rays, MRI’s, previous surgery details etcetera, and any other relevant documentation or information
- If coming for a second opinion or follow up from another surgeon please ask that surgeon to provide information about your surgery with them and the concerns.
Please arrive 10-15 minutes prior to your appointment time to complete an information form. Alternatively, this information can be completed online. If a patient arrives late, we will endeavour to accommodate the appointment, however a further appointment may be required to provide the patient with sufficient information and patient attention regarding the surgical enquiry.
We aim to consult with each patient as close as possible to the appointment time. On rare occasions, previous appointments may cause an appointment to run a little late, however this rarely occurs and we try to inform our patients of any delays in their appointment time.
If the consultation is regarding previous breast implant surgery, please attempt to contact the original surgical practice and obtain information regarding the breast implants inserted and details of the previous surgery.
If the consultation is to discuss facial surgery (such as eyelid surgery or facelift surgery), please arrive with no makeup (or arrive approximately 15 minutes early so staff can assist with makeup removal).

Schedule of Fees
Consultations With a Plastic Surgeon
Consultation fees with our plastic surgeon, Dr Craig Layt, range between $190 and $490. At the time of booking a consultation with Dr Layt a $50 deposit is required. Review consultation fees range between $90 and $290. A rebate from Medicare is available for medical consultations and reviews. These rebate amounts vary between $30 and $75. Referrals are valid for a limited time. Referrals are valid from a GP (General Practitioner) for 12 months, and a specialist for three (3) months.
Patients should obtain a GP referral for the consultation. The specialist should be informed of your full medical background, including previous surgical history and medications. It is important that the referral clearly states the medical or cosmetic reason for requesting a plastic and reconstructive surgical consultation. Some Health Funds require this specific information on the referral in order to adhere to Health Fund Policies for rebates on medical procedures.
A staff member may contact the patient or guardian to request further information prior to the appointment day in order for The Layt Clinic to prepare patient information for the consultation with the doctor and to limit the paperwork required to be filled in by the patient on the consultation day.

Children Within the Practice
Accompanied children are welcome at the clinic. We do ask, however, that children refrain from running around, jumping on furniture and from making loud noises. We wish for our patients to understand the information from their surgical discussions in their consultation and suggest that some children may be best with another family member or friend to allow the patient to achieve the most from their consultation.
Inappropriate Behaviour
Our Doctors and Staff at our Southport and Ballina Clinics aim to provide patients with a high standard of service and care. If a patient displays inappropriate behaviour (aggressive or of a threatening manner), they may be asked to leave the premises. No recording of consultations or treatments is permitted in line with National Law. We also ask that mobile phones are in Silent or Vibrate Mode. We ask that patients demonstrate a level of courtesy and do not answer their mobile phones during consultations or treatments.
